The Charm of Del Mar Beach

When Amanda reached out to plan her holiday family session, Del Mar Dog Beach was what we ultimately decided on—and for good reason. This spot is one of my go-to recommendations for family shoots in San Diego. The wide, open sand, and the towering cliffs create a backdrop that’s equal parts serene and dynamic.

Amanda has two adorable twin boys. Photographing fraternal twins D & B is always such a dream. There’s something so magical about twins—their bond is palpable, and they often move through the world in their own special rhythm. What made this session particularly unforgettable were the moments they created together, completely unscripted.

For example, when they would kiss each other on the cheek, without any direction from me. Those small, affectionate gestures felt so pure and natural. Moments like this are what make photographing children so special—they remind you how unfiltered and genuine their emotions are.

The session wasn’t just about the boys, though. It was about capturing Amanda and her family’s connection as a whole. There’s a warmth in every image. Their coordinated outfits—rich burgundy and navy tones—perfectly complemented the beach’s natural palette.

One of my favorite family shots is when the boys’ energy softened for just a moment as they leaned into their parents, the setting sun casting a warm glow around them.
